Notes saved in your browser (via localStorage) stay on your device—until you clear site data, uninstall the browser, or switch computers. Here's how to back them up so you don't lose them.
1. Copy and paste
The simplest backup: open each note, select all (Ctrl+A or Cmd+A), and paste into a text file, Word doc, or another app. Works for any notepad. For apps like NoteThePoint, use the Copy button in the toolbar to grab the full note (title + content) in one go. Paste into a file and save it somewhere safe—desktop, Documents, or cloud storage.
2. Print to PDF
If the notepad supports printing, open the note and use your browser's Print function (Ctrl+P). Choose "Save as PDF" instead of a physical printer. You'll get a readable file you can store anywhere. NoteThePoint includes a print option for the active note.
3. Use browser DevTools (manual export)
Many browser-based notepads store data under a key like minimalist_notes or similar in localStorage. Open DevTools (F12), go to Application (Chrome) or Storage (Firefox), find Local Storage for the site, and copy the value. It's usually JSON—you can save it as a .json file. To restore later, you'd need to paste it back (some apps support import; others don't).
4. Regular backup habit
Set a reminder—weekly or monthly—to export important notes. Even a quick copy-paste into a folder can save you if you ever clear data or lose the device. For critical content, consider moving it to a cloud note app or a file you sync (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) for automatic backup.
5. What not to rely on
Don't assume "I'll remember to export later." Browser data can disappear overnight if you clear cookies, reinstall, or get a new device. If it matters, back it up now.
